When Did You Become the Last Thing on Your Own List?
Top of the day, beautiful souls! I’m here to drop a truth bomb on ya’... YOU MATTER MOST!
This is for those who put everything and everyone before themselves.
It’s time to create real time and energy for YOU.
Are you out here grinding, checking every box, but leaving something crucial behind, friend?
You can hustle through emails, crush deadlines, be the rock for everyone around you, and still lose sight of what really counts.
That’s the one thing that never makes it on your calendar, huh? The work.
I’m not talking about self-care Saturdays at the nail salon, beauty shop, or cleaning the car.
I’m talking about you and what you need to master.
You’ve mastered the art of juggling responsibilities, and folks lean on you because you always make it work.
You’re the brains of the operationT! At work, you’re a superstar ((jazz hands)).
At home, you’re the go-to. Your phone is glued to your side because there’s always another message, another task, another demand waiting for your magic touch.
Always another something.
But hold up -wait a moment!

While you’re busy being the hero, what about the things that require your personal attention?
You keep postponing them until tomorrow, to-to, tomorrow (no Rocko): Your exhaustion, your boundaries, your health, your relationships, your finances, your ideas, your purpose, your peace, and merely you yourself are all important aspects that deserve your attention.
And guess what?
Tomorrow keeps slip-slip-slipping away.
The future becomes the present because time is not hesitant to make a move.
Time literally never gave af. Ahem, now then…
Responsibility can be a distraction, ya know that. Now, don’t get it twisted, there’s nothing wrong with being reliable.
But when your dependability to everyone else means you keep breaking promises to yourself?
That’s a problem right there.
Maybe you’ve been telling yourself to slow down, or you know something in your life needs a shake-up. Maybe you’re feeling mentally jammed up, disconnected, or just plain worn out from bouncing around from one task to another.
I know you see it and feel it.
And that matters most of all, friend.
But just recognizing it without taking action?
That’s just another form of procrastination. shrugs
Recognizing the need for boundaries is one thing; establishing them is another.
Understanding that a relationship is draining yet persisting in the same behaviors is very common out here in these earthly streets.
Being aware of a chaotic schedule doesn’t prevent it from being overfilled.
Even when help is needed, the insistence of “I got this” can/will persist.
It’s important to remember that awareness alone doesn’t guarantee growth, Blanches.
Ultimately, what is acknowledged should shape actions: strategic, actionable steps.
The company you work for CAN REPLACE YOU.
Okay, this might hit hard right here.
Your job can replace you. Even if you’re a rockstar at that place. Even if you’re the first call when things go sideways. That is not always a compliment. Even if you know the ins and outs better than anyone ELSE. Why is that?
Even if you’ve been holding it down for two decades, Miss. Everglades.
Organizations keep it moving; positions get re-posted, and responsibilities shift. Someone else learns the ropes and the meetings go on.
You see this at the top of the food chain. The CEO passes away or retires; the company is positioned to win, not give in. Hello somebody. This doesn’t mean your work is pointless.
It means your life can’t be the collateral damage for your job.
Sit with that.
The hours you keep stealing from yourself don’t pile up in some cosmic PTO bank waiting for you later.
You can’t keep saying, “After this project.”
“After the kids get settled.”
“After this quarter.”
“After I get through this situation.”
“After things calm down.”
Life has a way of replacing one task with another, and another, and then another.
So when exactly are you planning to come back to yourself?
You might not need more info, kinfolk.
On the cool, some of y’all have researched this situation to death. Mmmmkay.
You know the terminology and understand the trends, perhaps even analyzing your own behaviors along the way.
That’s cool and all.
Yet, despite all this knowledge, your daily life feels stagnant, vision blurred, and brain fog sets in. You might find that simply gathering more information isn’t the solution you need after all.
What you may truly require is a sense of structure and steps that actually work.
You need enough quiet to see what’s really going down, Julie Brown. You need a way to sort out what’s REQUIRED versus what’s DESIRED. You need to pinpoint what deserves your attention and decide what you’re ready to tackle.

Then comes the magic of repetition.
That’s where self-mastery gets tf real.
Mental clutter makes everything feel important, dah’ling.
When you’re caught up in responding, reacting, and solving, everything starts to feel like it’s fighting for your mental space.
The email seems urgent. Is it really?
The family drama appears pressing. Is it really?
The laundry seems like a necessity. Is it really?
The deadline feels like a race against the clock. You signed up for it,
The person calling for the third time seems like a priority. Are they really?
Your own needs? They fall to the bottom of the list and ain’t that some shit.
Eventually, you get so used to responding to everyone else that you stop tuning into your own signals.
That’s when you need to carve out some space on purpose.
You can’t manage what you refuse to look at or change what you keep pushing aside. AND you can’t build a different life while replaying the same day and hoping clarity will just show up.
Waiting for an a’ha can cost you a lot of time.
Remember who you are beyond what you do. Who are you?
Let’s take a moment to reflect real quick.
Who are you when nobody’s asking for anything from you? Hymph... who are you?
I’m not speaking of your job title.
Not talking about the roles you are in, like someone’s mother, father, partner, caregiver, supervisor, or problem-solver.
Just YOU. I have questions, friend.
What do you need right now?
What have you been dodging?
What keeps nagging at you when the noise fades away?
What have you noticed but haven’t tackled?
Where are you settling for less because dealing with it feels tougher than just living with it?
Where have you put your self-worth on sale just to keep something, someone, or some version of your life?
That last one? ha-ha Mr. Hyde laugh. You might need to sit with that for a minute.
So sit. Let me know you have sat. Thank ya’.
Start Here, Friend.
Today, gift yourself 20 uninterrupted minutes.
Put your phone down. Close your laptop and don’t use this time to clean, answer messages, scroll, or fix someone else’s mess.
Grab a piece of paper and split it into three R.D.P. sections:
What is happening? Write down what’s currently draining your mental, emotional, physical, or practical energy.
What needs my attention? Circle what you have control over, influence over, or responsibility for.
What will I do next? Choose one action you can complete in the next 24 hours.
Let’s get it poppington! It’s not about a whole laundry list of things to do. We love our to-dos, don’t we? Nah, we’re keepin’ it simple, strong, and straight to the point right now.
Just one thing, baby!
Make that appointment!
Don’t sleep on it; that’s your ticket to the next level!
Key‘s
Have that conversation! Speak your truth, let your voice echo like a vibration of the Most High!
Review that account! Know what’s in your pocket and what’s in your heart; keep it real!
Set that boundary! Protect your peace like it’s gold, ’cause it is!
Send that application! Don’t be shy, put yourself out there and shine like the star you are!
Take that walk! Clear your mind, let the world embrace you; feel that fresh air! Walk barefoot!
Finish that page! Write your memoir, don’t leave it hanging; every word counts! Turn off the phone! Tune into your vibe, find that inner peace; it’s time to recharge! Ask for help! We all need a hand sometimes, so reach out and lift each other up! Book that consultation! Take that step, invest in yourself, and watch the magic unfold! One step at a time, but make it count! You got this, and the world is waiting for your shine!
Do the thing that signals to your life that you’re back in the game. Then tomorrow, take the next step.
The following part is nonnegotiable, friend!
You have choices. Yes, you do.
You can let life unfold however it wants and that would make you a daredevil.
You can keep trying to figure it all out while stuck in the same patterns that confuse.
You can keep hoping that circumstances will eventually clear enough space for you to deal with yourself.
Or you can take charge of what you already know is holding you back, what’s interfering, what’s a repeated pattern, or where your self-worth has been marked down. But ignoring it is also a choice.
Helloooooooo!
Your life keeps moving while you’re in decision mode.
If you can pinpoint your next step, take it within the next 24 hours.
If you see the problem but can’t navigate through the clutter, book a consultation with me. We’ll figure out what’s really going on, what deserves your focus, and where to kick things off.
If you know you thrive with structure, accountability, and others working through their own stuff alongside you, join one of the upcoming group sessions.
You don’t need another year of thinking about what you already know needs your attention.
Your job can find someone else if you decide to leave ((Eartha Kitt Tone)).
People will always find someone to call. The inbox will refill, and the chores will come back.
Another problem will always pop up, ready to take the spotlight, but you can’t get back the time you keep putting off for yourself.
Remember who tf you are.
Then act like your fe deserves a spot on your own calendar like the rest of the stuff that will be here the next day.
With love,
Lulu and The Ladies et al.
