A call to action

Updated: Jul 17, 2021

Hello Housemates!

We are going to keep it simple today. Are you answering the call? A call to action is a marketing term for anything designed to get a response or encourage you to take action immediately.

See how I did that? Call to action!

Did you respond?

Will you respond?

Did your Spidey senses tingle?

If you did not respond, what is keeping you from taking action?

Imagine your Ancestors, your Guides, and whatever Supreme Being or Beings you believe in, creating scenarios and arranging moments or opportunities in your life to inspire you to respond to a call to action.

In this case, where we are thinking of all of these Beings as our very own Marketing Team, that call to action may present itself as an offer for the dream job you wanted. Or maybe it poses itself as a solution to get your ass in gear so you can complete something that you wanted to do weeks ago.

The gesture is the opportunity. Something presented to you that you wanted, needed, desired. Here it is. It may come to you clear as day or in a most peculiar way that leaves you scratching your head questioning, was that really for me?

What do you do?

An opportunity or solution has presented itself to you.

Do you take advantage of it?

What do you do?

An opportunity springs forth from want, need, or desire. Sometimes it presents itself as a stepping stone or a guidepost that leads you closer to the thing that you want.

What do you do?

Do you begin to launch into a litany of fears and reasons as to why you can’t accept the opportunity?

Do you set up camp in Imposter Syndrome Alley and gather around a fire with like-minded individuals who affirm your right to say no to your dreams?

Every time you say no to an opportunity you asked for, you affirm the opposite. For example, if you have a chance to experience more joy in your life, and you turn it away, you proclaim a preference or an inclination towards misery. What you prefer and affirm is what you innately draw closer to you. Do not be surprised if things begin to happen to you that would threaten to keep you in a state of misery.

I am not ready. I have so much to do. Excuses. I do not say that with judgment, but with a very matter of fact, Virgo practical tone that some people take as judgmental, but is just...well matter of fact.

Your excuses may very well be valid, but at the end of the day, excuses are excuses, and it seems to me that humans have a billion reasons why they should say no, but can barely make it to five as to why they should say yes.

Before you say no out of fear of standing in your greatness, I encourage you to think about why you should say yes. Sometimes saying yes means that you have to carve out time in your day. Sometimes it means staying up late and getting up early the next day.

Sometimes yes means no sleep, or backing away from something you thought was real. Sometimes yes comes with a bag of silence, a sleeping bag of loneliness, and your only comfort is knowing that you are daring to stand in your truth, and that is wonderful. Take that comfort and let it push you forward to the break of dawn.

Litany Against Fear

I must not fear.

Fear is the mind-killer.

Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

I will face my fear.

I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Where the fear has gone, there will be nothing.

Only I will remain.

-From Frank Herbert’s Dune.
